The traditional handmade lanterns and pomegranate lanterns made by Master Song from Sigouyuan Village in Yaozhou District are exquisite and sophisticated. Master Song said: "In the old days, Sigouyuan village used to make lanterns. Sometimes there were more than 20 lanterns. Now there are only two of me and my brother. The handmade lanterns are complicated and difficult to transport. People don’t want to learn. A lantern needs to be tied or dyed and painted, and the skeleton needs to be tied more than 40 times. The process is extremely cumbersome. A skilled craftsman can do no less than 10 a day."
